Don’t miss Brijuni

The Brijuni archipelago extends in front of the southwest coast of Istria. The Brijuni Islands are known for their long-standing activities by Josip Broz Tito, President of the former Yugoslavia. On Brijuni, Tito hosted numerous statesmen, politicians and diplomats (Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Elizabeth II Queen of Great Britain, but also Richard Burton, Kirk Douglas, Sofia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor … )

In the northern part of the island there is a safari park where deer, zebras, ostriches, giraffes and other animals live freely. Brijuni can also be reached with bicycles that can be rented in the Park. Daily excursions are organized with departure from Umag at 09:30 and return at 18:30.

ISTRIA

To taste …

Istria is home to exceptional (extra virgin) olive oil, outstanding wine and salty delicacies. Not to forget that Istria is widely known for its truffles, which grow mainly in the Motovun Forest. The Istrian peninsula actually still holds the record for the largest truffle in the world ever found. This is a 1.31 kg piece discovered in 1999.

There are as many as 13 Istrian restaurants in the elite Michelin guide. The story of Michelin, at least as far as Istria is concerned, has been going on for many years. Istria is known as a region of wine, olives and truffles with top-notch restaurant offer and unique ambience.

All this has contributed to making Istria the most respected gastronomic and oenological destination in Croatia.

The outer part is characterized by beautiful coastal towns like Pula, Rovinj, Poreč and Umag, while the inner part of Istria shows a completely different landscape full of greenery and forests, the most famous of which is Motovunska, where most truffles grow in Istria.

MICHELIN recommends the following restaurants for an unforgettable gastronomic delight.

The Adriatic Golf Club

Only a ten minute drive from the Rocca Riviera apartment you can find a professional golf court with 18 fields with a total length of 6360 meters, spread over 80 hectares.

The golf court is designed by DI. Diethard Fahrenleitner and DI. Barbara Eisserer, who were awarded the Austrian “Golf Art Landscape” award, and the same is literally fused into the landscape, shaped by rocks, natural lakes and evergreen and typical vegetation for the Mediterranean climate. There are 5 starting positions on each field and from each field there is a unique view of the landscape, which is reflected in their descriptive names such as: Vineyard, Seaview, Olivetree, Romanic Church …

Training ground

The Adriatic Golf Club practice area is located in the immediate vicinity of the club house. It consists of: a training ground for long strokes, a putting green and a chipping green with a sand bunker. The long-range training ground has 30 grass positions and 10 covered positions with mats (artificial grass). The shooting range is open from dawn to dusk. In addition to the gym, there is a caddy room where you can store your equipment in a locked cage for a fee.
